About Me:

I always knew I wanted to be a counselor and am still very passionate about it. I began counseling individuals and families in Nashville, TN and later moved to the Outer Banks to be near my family and follow my dream of having a practice at the beach. I opened my private practice here to offer professional counseling services to individuals, children, and families.  I love the concept of making a good life, wonderful! We all deserve an hour of relaxation on a comfortable couch in a safe place to talk about ways to be a better version of ourselves. I believe in the wellness model of counseling, which means therapy is to make a good life better, to reach your fullest potential and prevent problems from arising in the future.

Clinical Experience:

I received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from West Virginia University in 2004 and her Masters of Arts in Counseling from Trevecca Nazarene University in 2011.   My experience includes working with children, families and adults struggling with life adjustment, obesity, divorce, relationship conflicts, learning disabilities, depression,  anxiety,  addiction, severe mental illness and trauma. I was the Clinical Director of an inpatient substance abuse treatment facility and have experience leading groups for those suffering from addictions and co-occurring disorders. I also have experience working with children with behavioral issues such as Oppositional Defiant Disorder,  Conduct Disorder,  and ADHD.  I have experience testifying in court as a fact witness, working with the department of child services and assisting with a diverse population in community mental health. I am also a counselor with the Youth Accountability and Counseling Services, helping children and teenagers with behavioral and emotional struggles.

I enjoy working with women and children. My trainings include mindfulness, play therapy, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, teen issues and in collaborating with your doctor or other specialists to promote integrative wellness. I am Certified in Weight Loss and Personal Training and use this in a mind-body approach. I am a creator of the EMBRACE program, an educational wellness program that integrates mind and body practices to increase self-esteem and empower girls and women. These groups are held at my practice.
